Balneo and PRM Research Journal publishes scholarly research dedicated to functional recovery, rehabilitation, balneology, physiotherapy, health-related physical activity, chronic disease management, disability prevention and healthy ageing.

The journal is owned and published by the Romanian Association of Balneology and publishes articles in English, with four issues per year.

Balneo and PRM Research Journal is currently marked On Hold in the Web of Science Master Journal List while undergoing editorial re-evaluation. During this period, new content is not processed for Web of Science indexing.

Clarivate has stated that, if the journal continues to meet the applicable quality criteria, missing content will be indexed following completion of the evaluation.

The journal continues its regular editorial and publication activity and remains committed to scientific quality, research integrity, editorial independence and transparent communication with authors, reviewers and readers.

Aims and Scope

Balneo and PRM Research Journal publishes peer-reviewed scholarly content in the fields of:

Balneology; Balneoclimatology; Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine; Physiotherapy; Kinesiotherapy; Neurorehabilitation; Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation; Sports Medicine; Injury Prevention; Lifestyle Medicine; Healthy Ageing; Climatology; Hydrotherapy; Aquatic Therapy; Thermal Rehabilitation; Functional Assessment; Rehabilitation Technologies; Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence in Rehabilitation.

The journal welcomes original research articles, clinical studies, randomized trials, observational studies, case reports, systematic reviews, scoping reviews, meta-analyses, narrative reviews, short communications and letters to the editor, provided that the manuscript demonstrates clear relevance to rehabilitation, functional recovery, physical medicine, balneological treatment, physiotherapy, disability prevention, functional assessment, clinical rehabilitation, translational rehabilitation or evidence-based health promotion.


Sport-Related Manuscripts

Sport-related manuscripts are considered only when they have explicit relevance to sports medicine, injury prevention, rehabilitation, functional assessment, exercise therapy, health promotion, return-to-activity, return-to-play or lifestyle medicine.

Manuscripts focused primarily on sport pedagogy, coaching methodology, sport management, fan behaviour, marketing, advertising, general educational theory or curriculum development are outside the operational editorial scope of the journal.


Editorial and Peer-Review Standards

All submissions undergo editorial screening before peer review.

The initial editorial assessment includes verification of:

Scope alignment
Scientific relevance
Ethical compliance
Reporting quality
Citation appropriateness
Text similarity
Completeness of required declarations

Manuscripts considered suitable for evaluation are sent for double-peer review by at least two independent reviewers.

Editorial decisions are based exclusively on scientific merit, originality, methodological quality, ethical compliance, clarity of reporting and relevance to the journal’s scope.

Payment of the Article Processing Charge does not influence editorial screening, peer review, reviewer selection or editorial decisions.


Submission

Authors must use the official journal manuscript template and follow the applicable international reporting guideline.

Systematic reviews and meta-analyses must include:

PRISMA 2020 checklist
PRISMA for Abstracts checklist
PRISMA flow diagram
Protocol or PROSPERO registration number, where applicable

Scoping reviews must follow PRISMA-ScR.

Clinical trials should be prospectively registered in a publicly accessible trial registry.


Article Processing Charge

The Article Processing Charge is EUR 700 per accepted article and is payable only after formal editorial acceptance.

The APC covers editorial processing, technical editing, typesetting, DOI registration, metadata preparation, online hosting, open-access publication and digital preservation.

There is no submission fee.

Payment of the APC does not influence peer review or editorial decisions and does not guarantee indexing by any external database.

Indexing and coverage decisions are made independently by external services.


Publication Ethics and Research Integrity

The journal maintains editorial policies covering:

Citation Integrity

Balneo and PRM Research Journal does not require, request or encourage citation to the journal unless such citation is scientifically necessary.

Authors, reviewers, editors and guest editors must not add or recommend citations for the purpose of improving journal metrics.

Citations to prior articles in Balneo and PRM Research Journal are acceptable only when they are directly relevant to the scientific, methodological, clinical or evidential content of the manuscript.

All recommendations for journal self-citation must be scientifically justified and may be removed during editorial review if they are not necessary.
